24 months = 2 YEARS!

07.14.08

Our sweet baby Grant turned 2 on July 14th! Where has the time gone?!?

One of the many things he loves right now is trains. So we decided for his birthday we would take one of the scenic train rides that goes from our little town to another. The boys LOVED it! We would often hear Grant say, "All 'board!" and they both loved looking out the window and even being able to look around inside the engine! We had a about an hour or so once the train stopped until it headed back, so we stopped by a park and walked around the town and got some lunch.

Once we got home, the boys took naps and I tried to make a train cake. The key word there is tried...it didn't work. I was so disappointed because in my mind it was going to be really cute. Without time to make even another basic cake, I decided that sadly we would have to settle for a store bought cake. Anyway, we had such a fun time celebrating our little Grant! I can't believe that he's our little 2 year old now! He brings so much happiness into our family and definitely adds some spunk...we love him so much, we love that he is ours...seriously, what's not to love?!?

..."snapshot" of Grant at 2...
  • He loves his "dee"(paci) and "ha-ho" (blankie). He usually has to have both of them together. They bring him such comfort and make him so happy, I really don't know how to break him from it.
  • When he's sleepy, he loves to snuggle with mommy or daddy and sometimes even Lincoln. Usually it's with daddy though.
  • If he wants to be picked up he says, "hold you."
  • He talks so well (he's probably been talking for 6 months now), identifies numbers and letters, sings ABCs and can count to 20!
  • He doesn't like Nursery. In fact anytime he is not with Mommy, Daddy, or Lincoln he seems to have some anxiety.
  • He loves to run and play and keep up with Lincoln...but he's much more cautious than Lincoln.
  • He will play by himself or with others, but doesn't really like chaos.
  • His favorite song is "Joseph Smith's First Prayer" and asks for it by simply saying, "Smith"
  • He loves Buzz from Toy Story.
  • He loves Larry Boy from Veggie Tales.
  • He loves Elmo.
  • He loves to build with blocks, do puzzles, go for walks, play at the park, color, play in water, and play with trains.
  • He loves to tease...especially Mommy. He gets a little smile on his face and a look in his eye and then the teasing begins! We call him our "sour patch kid!"
  • He loves to dance to just about any music.
  • He has a smile that lights up a room and a belly laugh that is contagious... he likes for Mommy to sing to him, "You Are My Sunshine."

SO cute!! Reminds me so much of Nathan's second birthday! That's exactly what we did. Little boys are so much fun. So, where does the train go from Alamosa? My mom has been talking about taking Nathan and Jackson on a train ride next time we come home. The Durango/Silverton train does a really fun "Polar Express" thing at Christmas that I want to do again this year. You guys sure celebrate lots of birthday in the summer!
