For Labor Day we really, really, really tried and desperately wanted to getaway to somewhere so neat and exciting and fun! Like a relaxing beach in California, or even the other extreme - Stanley, ID or Island Park, ID. But as we were in dreamland trying to plan one of these exciting getaways, we came back to reality and realized that a) we were planning too late and everything was booked, b) we live incredibly far away from the beach right now and driving that far with 2 little ones did not sound like fun, and c) financially it just wasn't realistic. We figured Grant might need diapers a little more than spending a couple of days some where exciting and fun...(not to mention other needs that everyone else has as well)!
However, we decided to have a little vacation in Utah! It's not beachy California, or a cabin in the mountains, but we were together, and it was perfect....
Our first stop was Park City...Brandon and Lincoln went up the tram to ride down the alpine slide...Lincoln loved it and thought it was so much fun.
Of course we had to stop for an ice cream break and then Lincoln and Grant rode the little airplanes...I think the picture shows just how cool they both thought that was.
After, we tried every trick in the book to have the little ones think shopping would be fun! None of the tricks really worked, except giving Lincoln one sucker after another, and keeping Grant's pacifier in his mouth (which he is only suppose to have in his crib now).
But since shopping in our little town is very limited, we continued on in our shopping ventures even with the opposition of our little ones!
The next day, we went to the Hogle Zoo! We were a little worried because it was suppose to rain, but we decided to give it a try anyway, and it was great.
We saw their fun bird show and all the animals. Many of which had new babies! The boys did great for the most part, and liked seeing the many different animals. And it wasn't too hot of a day, so it was nice to be outside.
On Sunday we went to church with my brother and his family. Just like in our own ward, half way through Sacrament Meeting, Lincoln started to say that he didn't want to go to Nursery.
We didn't want to force him into a Nursery were he didn't know anyone (since his little cousin was home sick) so we decided to spend the rest of church at Temple Square.
It's always so nice being on the temple grounds and enjoying the sweet spirit there. It was also nice to be there because just 6 days later, we would be celebrating our 6th Anniversary. Since we were married in the SLC temple, it was just a little nostalgic!
Our little future missionaries...
This little mini vacay was made possible because we were able to stay at my parent's house! So we also were able to spend some time visiting with Gramma and Pop Watts (Grant now calls his Grandpas 'Pop Pop')!
